Broadly, my work focuses on the intersection of music with individual and collective identities, the nature of mind and consciousness, and aesthetics. Currently I am working on cognitive and motion-based analysis of vocal music pedagogy, the aesthetic and philosophical dimensions of raga-mala painting, and music’s role in the construction of place within cultural narratives. My doctoral dissertation examined the development of the gayaki ang and the sitar style of Ustad Vilayat Khan, and I am currently working on a biography of Khan-sahib.
